“2020, for me, is not just the year of the virus. Throughout all the craziness, I will always think of 2020 as the year I got on the right track with my diet and exercise. For the past several years, I have felt stuck.
I went through phases of trying to exercise and eat right, but I never really progressed with getting my weight down. In January, I asked Mendy (my mother-in-law) to help me get on a plan for the new year. I wasn’t sure how it would go with my mother-in-law as my nutrition and fitness coach, but she was the absolute best in teaching me about healthy choices and daily activities to help me reach my goal. It wasn’t instant weight loss, but it was healthy and consistent. I lost about a pound every single week, and I just kept feeling better and better. From January to June, I lost about 25 pounds and learned how to cook and eat healthy food combinations along the way. But then came the move.
I had already met my goal, but I was afraid my weight would go right back up as we stayed with a family without our own groceries or routine, celebrated holidays, and took off on a huge road trip from state to state all the way across the country. I thought of every excuse not to keep going, but with the things I learned, I could keep my plan and work through every new obstacle. I have maintained my new weight for two months now and still going strong. My only problem now is I need to buy new clothes because my old clothes are too big!
