Transformation Story
“I began my journey with Mendy Lynn when I was in a very dark place emotionally and physically. I was overweight, depressed, unmotivated, turned to food for comfort and I was making "cheat" meals a daily occurrence.
I had completely lost respect for myself, I no longer felt beautiful, I was over drinking weekly and not realizing how the actions I thought were not a big deal, were adding up and affecting my entire being.
I thought I was eating "healthy" but when I was eating healthy foods, it was canceled out by the weekend/weekly binge eating and excessive drinking. I was allowing my mental health to take control of everything. I compared myself to others, I was buying clothes that I knew wouldn't fit me and considered them my "goal" clothing, which just sat in my closet. In my mind, I kept thinking, "it could be worse".
I moved back to my home in Sacramento and started taking workout classes, but it wasn't enough. I needed some serious help, or I was going to stay at the same weight and continue in self-pity.
Mendy Lynn absolutely changed my life. It was hard sometimes, but I took a deep breath, pushed through my insecurities and laziness, listened to her advice, and my entire thought process has changed. She allowed me to pick foods that I enjoyed, and somehow it allowed me to not be miserable starting off this journey.
Throughout the process, as my body started to change, the more weekly conversations we had, it motivated me to continue pushing toward my goal. I appreciated the constructive conversations when Mendy Lynn had to give me tough love.
My mindset changed and so did my appreciation for life. I started to get excited about my workouts, and the foods I was going to eat that were going to fuel me. I found myself looking back on foods I ate that I thought were healthy, when, they were not good for me, my portion sizes were off, I was having too much of one category, and I wasn't making the correct food choices. The "cheat meals" and "oh just this once why not?" add up.
Not only was I able to lose the weight, but the overall "Carlye" was better. I have become less angry, less anxious, happier, I have more energy, I am more productive, and I get excited to meal plan and tell others about my success. I also get excited to HELP others.
I began to journal, take pictures of my progress and when I was confronted with situations with alcohol and fatty foods, it wasn't hard to say no thank you. I remember the first 2 times I went out with friends and there was alcohol, I was so nervous. I thought I couldn't do it. When I was surrounded by all the things that were essentially taunting me, I pushed through and stuck to my goal and when I got home, I couldn't help but smile and say, "wow I did it!" and I woke up feeling amazing. Eating out and rewarding myself with the bad foods was a weakness of mine.
Since this journey and now, I am a better friend, daughter, employee, God-loving, productive, and happier individual and a whole 30 pounds lighter.
